Kate working on removing a few square feet of the decades old paint. |
Indy is always ready to distract us from work, apparently sitting around on the boat isn't as fun as chasing bunny rabbits. |
After failing on the first try to cut the beam for the stairs with the first 6x12, we used a 2x12 to play with measurements and lock in what we wanted before we cut the final beam. |
The new ladder beam ready for steps. |
Northern at the end of a long day |
Steps! Just need to add the bronze screws to hold them down. |
With the old fuel tank out, we started building the new frame work for the new V-berth sole (floor). |
Taking the last remnants of the old bulkhead. |
Here you can see the bases for the new steps. |
Amazingly a wood boat can stand lots of sparks, but we kept a hose near by and ready. |

The forward bulkhead framing, ready for insulation and plywood. |
Such pretty wood under all that paint. |
We used 1/2" marine plywood for the base of the sole. And I cut out access hatches for the important things that we might need to access. |
We used 3/4" marine plywood for the bulkhead. (wall) |
The first of the many truck loads of NEW wood for the boat. |
We forgot to really take any pictures of it, but you can see we put radiant floor heating tubing in for the future hope of heated floors. |
New vertical grain fir tongue and groove flooring. |
We left the area under the heater blank since the bed will cover it anyways. |
The main fresh water supply hose. |
Kate's a quick study on new power tools. |
Salty is a quick study on dinner time... |
The new flooring with its first coat of urethane. |
The beginning of the new new queen size bed frame, with the ability to walk on both sides!...It's a big deal on a boat |
Putting up the 1x6 young and groove on the bulkhead, it will be painted white. |
It takes soon many little cuts to fit decently against the curve of the hull. |
Some fresh paint! |
The horizontal piece notched in which will hold the slides for the giant drawer under the bed. |
